As I watched them toe the starting line, I started to get a little sad that I wasn't starting out on this adventure with them.
However, by the time I saw them about 30 minutes later about 1/3 of the way through the course, I decided I was thankful that I had decided not to sign up again this year. This course is a brutal five miles with 36 obstacles, many of which require extreme upper body strength. I've never completed another obstacle course/mud run, but somehow I just don't think any of them can compare with this bad boy.
My role for the day was stuff holder (car keys, phones, eye glasses, you get the picture) and photographer Here are some of the shots I got.
My first sighting of the team as they charged through the switchbacks. I spotted them far away and started yelling. I like to think my shouts helped.
The monkey bars go up at an incline and down at a decline, which is harder than regular monkey bars. Luckily, your team can help you out. Here are Jodie (on the bars) and Wendy below.
This is scarier than it looks, jumping from a ledge about five feet up into a mud hole of unknown depth. They did it together.
Here's all four team mates on one set of over/under logs. This obstacle is not so bad.
Amie, left, and Abi, right, wait for the teammates at the end of the "Sands of Iwo Jima" mud river.
Abi is demonstrating a superb fireman's carry with Jodie on her back.
They crossed the finish line as a team
Team Ridiculous 2012.
Wow, That's a great job. Congratulation! You finally made at the finish line.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I said this on Saturday, but I wish I had: ABI IS BEASTING THAT FIREMAN CARRY.
ReplyDeleteNext time, I am definitely carrying someone else.
