Things You Need To Know About Me

I know, I know. I'm a slack blogger.  I'm sorry, I've been away.  Technically, now I've been back just as long as I was away, but I've been recuperating.  Trust me, you spend 24 hours a day with teenagers for a week and you need a week to recuperate. I don't know how parents do it, I really don't.  Anyway, hopefully absence has made your heart grow fonder for me.

I haven't had any big topics on mind lately. Or rather, I have, but I haven't been able to fully form the paragraphs, sentences or words to discuss them.  AND, since I've been absentee so long, I've got lots of little things to tell you, so here goes:

I've discovered that I heart guacamole big time.
I spent years refusing to try it because of it's weird green color.  Yet when I was visiting my sister last month, we were heading to a restaurant and her roommate said, "Get the guacamole." So we did.  And now I'm hooked and I've tried it everywhere I could ever since.  Yummy green stuff.

I know nothing about bikes and I hate feeling like an idiot at the bike store.
Even I can tell this tire is flat.  What I can't tell is why pumping it up is not making it un-flat.  I have no idea how to change a tire and hate the thought of having to wheel Fiona into the bike store and throw myself on the mercy of the bike boys who work there.  Yet, it is something I must do.

I ran today!!
Confession: I have not worked in two weeks until today. First there was the trip, and then there was recuperating and then there was denial.  But, I have new shoes and no excuses.  I had to start over again from the near beginning of a run/walk program and it was hard.  That stinks, but it is only temporary. T-minus two months until the Tri Latta.

My favorite place to run or walk is the RiverWalk.
This is me at that beautiful, magical place called the RiverWalk. If you live in Charlotte or Rock Hill and have NOT been to the RiverWalk, please text, call, fb or e-mail me, and we will go.  You will not regret it. If you live somewhere other than Charlotte or Rock Hill, please schedule a trip to the RiverWalk into your next visit to town. You will not regret it.  I went there tonight to run, and I was so glad I did, even though it meant driving past two other parks to make it there.

My hair is long enough to put in a ponytail again!
This is both good and bad. See above picture.  I love having my hair out of my face and off of my neck but dislike the "hairless" look a ponytail gives me.

I am so strong I broke a shovel.
This was last week on my trip.  One of my tasks was to dig up a few rose bushes that had been planted in the same spot for almost as long as I've been alive. They really liked their spot and did not want to leave.  Eventually they liked their spot more than my shovel liked uprooting them and it passed away. I am so super strong.

I'm getting off Twitter.
You probably don't care, but I've kind of decided that Twitter is a waste of time (for me.)  I end up feeling like a pervert reading about people's lives whom I've never even met.  Or I get annoyed by people who tweet to much.  I don't really connect with people on it, so it's not a big loss for me.  I'll still be around on FB or Instagram.

My roommate and I got rid of cable and switched to Hulu.
I'm loving it. I think I'm watching less tv, it will eventually save us money, and I can watch Hulu anywhere, from my phone or a laptop.  Plus, we've got it so that it streams to our TV so we are not constrained to watching everything on tiny screens.

I really think I need to give up Diet Coke again, but don't think I can.
I suppose anyone who chooses to dress like a cola for Halloween is destined to a lifelong addiction to the drug.  But still, I wish I could just drink the brown stuff responsibly.

So that's some updates from my life. What's new in yours??

  2. Welcome back! I also suck at changing a bike tire - but i don't think you will receive any judgement by taking it in for help. Even though my hubby has shown me about 4 times how to change a tire, there's a major difference between understanding how it should be done....and doing it. You probably popped the tube inside the tire and that's why it's not working to pump it up.

I struggle with the delicious brown stuff, too. I got a sodastream for christmas and that has helped a lot. I can make my own at home, but i only buy the caffeine free diet mixes and I no longer buy any sodas from the store. So it's more like a treat but I've been able to WAY reduce my caffeine habit. Okay..super long comment, sorrY!

  3. YAY FOR YOUR RETURN TO BLOGGING!

    Comments in order:
~I will make guacamole more often!
~Surely there is a Bikes for Dummies book at the library? Or a youtube video or two to help you become more educated?
~I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE RUNNING AGAIN! I have run two days in a row (today it will be three!)! And I feel awesome for it! (Also I am SLEEEEPING so blissfully!) I am glad to hear you are still up for the Tri Latta!
~I miss walking club. Can we meet there next Wednesday to run?
    ~Hooray for ponytails!
~You are probably one of the strongest women I know.
    ~Twitter is lame-o.
~Watch an episode of SPY on Hulu. It is British and funny.
~Even if you feel like you can't give up Diet Coke forever, it couldn't hurt to give it up for the few months leading up to the Tri. That way the mountain seems smaller since it is for a set amount of time instead of for all eternity (which is a daunting thought).

    : )
